2022 Spring Activities for Team Building

Whether your team is remote, in-person, or hybrid there are plenty of spring activities and ideas to bring everyone together. Lets get excited about the spring and take a look at some activities and ideas to plan for and have fun at.

March 4th - Celebrate Employees Appreciation Day

Employee Appreciation Day is an official holiday observed on the first Friday in March. Showing your employees how important they are can lead to better connections and a more positive and productive workspace. This can be as simple as a meeting highlighting the team’s successes or getting together for an activity or event such as a competitive game of golf or bowling or lunch or dinner.

April 22nd - Make an Impact on Earth Day

Invest in our planet. Celebrate Earth Day and make an impact as a team. Volunteer to clean up litter as a team or raising money to donate to an environmentally friendly cause, working together as a team to make a difference helps improve collaboration and increases morale.

April 28th - Participate In Take Our Daughters And Sons To Work Day

Take Our Daughters And Sons To Work Day is recognized across the US. It gives them a glimpse into the working world. Whether you are in person or virtual, set some time aside at the end of the day and do a fun activity with the kids.

Volunteer as a Team and give back to the Community

Set up an employee volunteering program and encourage your employees to spend the day volunteering at an organization of their choice and/or one chosen by the work place.

Create memorable events that not only give back to the charity but will also have a lasting impact on your organization.

Two great example:

1) Participating in a Coastal clean up day

2) Charity Bike Build, which brings your employees together to build bicycles for children who otherwise wouldn’t have access to them.

Host a Fun Spring Scavenger Hunt

Who doesn’t love a good old-fashioned scavenger hunt? Separate teams into small groups, making sure to put employees from different departments who rarely work together or interact on the same teams.

Scavenger hunt can be put together at the work place, outdoor and/or virtual!

Few suggestion on when setting a scavenger hut run up:

  1. Longer the better - Don't keep it short and simply! Make it long, fun and interesting!

  2. Set a time - dictate how long you plan to give your players to complete it. Does not necessarily need to be a few hours long only! Think outside the box and spread the hunt out over a couple of days which can open up the option of more complex items which require players to participate outside of the office.

  3. Team Up - Scavenger hunts are more fun when worked together to complete as teams. Make items on the list that specifically require team work, such as “a picture of the whole team bowling” or “picture of 3 different shoes together at an ice cream parlor” etc.

  4. Make it personal - Scavenger hunt, as in items that encourage players to engage with each other’s interests.

  5. Win a prize - Something small like a $20 coffee shop gift card can serve to motivate people to participate, try harder and enjoy if there’s more up for grabs than just bragging rights.

Organize a Hike

If the work space is near some open space, take a field trip and go for a short hike. In addition to enabling and encouraging your team to get some exercise during work hours, you’ll also take in the sights and have some great conversations.

This spring promote and redefine the in-person and/or virtual events to continue positive company culture!
